State Qualification

Exhibitors must participate in PCQHA-approved events, referred to as State Youth Qualifying Shows (YQS). The number of judges an exhibitor must show under varies by class type:

General Classes: Exhibitors should show to a minimum of ten (10) judges in their desired class. While they may show to more than 15 YQS judges, only the best 15 placings will be considered.

Cattle, Speed, and Over Fences Classes: For classes such as working cow horse, barrel racing, and hunter hack, exhibitors must show to at least five (5) YQS judges. If they show to more than five, only the best nine (9) placings will be counted.

Point Calculation: PCQHA will tally the points from these top placings to determine state qualifiers, excluding those who have already qualified nationally. The highest-ranking exhibitors will be selected to represent California at the AQHYA World Championship Show.
